Lynn Witzen, MS, OTR

Therapy services supervisor

Lynn began providing family-centered occupational therapy services to children and adults with neurological disabilities in 1978 and eventually specialized in pediatric services for children with SPD, Autism, and other complex neurological diagnoses. In homes, schools, and institutions, she has provided assessment, direct therapy, parent education, treatment coordination, and training about sensory and other childhood disorders for teachers and paraprofessionals.

Lynn is certified to administer the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT). In her former home of Stillwater, Oklahoma, she instituted a therapeutic listening program in nine public schools. Her specialized care of pediatric patients with complex neurological disabilities brought her the Oklahoma Health Professional of the Year award from the state's Home Care Association.


Renee Allen, MS OTR

Occupational therapist

An alumnus of the SPD Foundation Intensive Mentorship program, Renee has been a pediatric occupational therapist since 2000 and is certified to administer the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT). Prior to joining the STAR Center team, she worked with Emerge – A Child's Place, a private pediatric clinic in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, Massachusetts. Renee holds a master's degree in occupational therapy from Boston University and a bachelor of fine arts with a minor in psychology from Truman University in Kirksville, Missouri (formerly Northeast Missouri State University).


Tristen Anderson, MA, OTR

Occupational therapist

Tristen comes to the STAR Center with a specialty in treating pediatric clients and a passion for building relationships with those she treats. She received her master of arts degree in occupational therapy from the University of Southern California and is a former mentee of the SPD Foundation's unique, small-group Intensive Mentorship program in SPD assessment and treatment. Tristen joined STAR because she values working in a family-centered setting where multi-disciplinary intervention is grounded in research. In addition to her work as a pediatric OT, she describes herself "an athlete, a friend, a wife, a coach, a camp counselor, a youth worker at church, and a world traveler." Tristen has studied in Salamanca, Spain, and speaks Spanish.


Melanie Hunt, MS, OTR

Occupational therapist

An occupational therapist who studied under the imminent Dr. Winnie Dunn, Ph.D.–developer of the Sensory Profile–Melanie has worked with infants and children with SPD, Developmental Delay, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and other disabling conditions. As a member of an expert interdisciplinary clinical team with exceptional experience, she provided home-based early intervention therapy, school-based early childhood special education, and outpatient services at United Cerebral Palsy in St. Joseph, Missouri.

With a master of science degree in occupational therapy from the University of Kansas, Melanie has a special interest in treating children with feeding and other sensory-related difficulties and has taken post-graduate coursework in those areas.


Jamie L. Schreckler, MA, OTR

Occupational therapist

An experienced therapist, instructor, and clinical coordinator, Jamie brings a broad background to her clinical work at STAR Center. Certified to administer the Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests (SIPT), Jamie has taken continuing education in feeding issues, torticollis, and the combined use of occupational therapy and speech-language therapy with a sensory integration approach. Before joining the STAR team, she was a pediatric OT in Cedar Park, Texas, where she also coordinated staff education and supervised OT interns. Jamie has worked as a school-based OT in San Diego and has provided acute, rehabilitation, and home health services to adults. Jamie graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor of science in child development and family relationships and received her master of arts in occupational therapy from the University of Southern California.


Lauren Jackson

Therapy assistant

Lauren brings to the STAR Center a degree in psychology, a background working with children of all ages in the field of mental health, and talents in organization and communication. Prior to joining STAR, Lauren contributed to numerous projects at the Metro Community Provider Network in Denver. She implemented a grant designed to help people walk more and eat less, helped establish a smoking cessation program, and provided counseling to patients with gestational diabetes. "These programs changed my life, and I knew STAR would, too," she says.


Roianne Ahn, Ph.D

Psychologist

A licensed psychologist with a doctorate in Counseling Psychology, Dr. Ahn has extensive experience treating individuals, couples, and families with issues related to Sensory Processing Disorder. Her dissertation research was a mixed (quantitative and qualitative) study of an adult with SPD. As the mother of a son with SPD, now a teenager, Dr. Ahn brings personal knowledge of the challenges the child and the family face to her work.

Michael S.B. Frank, MD, FAAP

Pediatrician

Dr. Michael Frank is a board-certified pediatrician who has specialized in diagnosing and treating ADHD since 2001. A partner in Southeast Denver Pediatrics and a medical consultant to Dr. Kay Toomey's practice in feeding solutions, Dr. Frank's training and experience have developed expertise in the differential diagnostic methods necessary to distinguish SPD from other conditions with similar-appearing symptoms, such as ADHD. Dr. Frank is a graduate of Stanford University, studied medicine at the University of Texas, and completed his residency at The Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio,


Sarah A. Schoen, Ph.D, OTR

Clinical services advisor, STAR

An occupational therapist for more than 20 years, Dr. Schoen joined STAR after serving as the director of occupational therapy at the Rose F. Kennedy Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York. She undertook post-doctoral studies with a prestigious Developmental Psychobiology Research Group fellowship at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center, where she was mentored by Dr. Lucy Jane Miller. During her fellowship, Dr. Schoen was instrumental in developing and researching the Sensory Processing Disorder Scale with Dr. Miller.

Dr. Schoen is certified in neurodevelopmental treatment and has taught in the graduate program at New York University and in continuing education workshops nationwide. She has undergone advanced training in sensory integration therapy, listening therapy, and assistive technology, and has worked extensively with infants and toddlers with Regulatory Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Dr. Schoen received the Recognition of Achievement Award from the American Occupational Therapy Association in 1997. She is currently an assistant professor at Rocky Mountain University and a clinical research instructor at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center.
